BACR provides support, information, skill development and resources to help individuals with alcohol and other drug related problems. BACR delivers prevention and treatment services to youth and adults having a broad spectrum of needs, ranging from the need for basic information to treatment for chronic alcoholism and drug addiction. Services are provided in a number of settings: schools, jails, community medical clinics, freestanding recovery centers, and county public assistance offices.
Our environmental prevention services aim to change community norms about alcohol and other drug use. We engage youth and adults to advocate for public and private policies that reduce access and counter alcohol advertising and marketing aimed at youth.

Perinatal Services
The Perinatal Program is a service designed to support mothers and babies to be healthy and free of the effects of addiction. We meet on a weekly basis with families in their homes to encourage abstinence, support family members to make health appointments and address individual treatment goals designed by each family with their case manager. Our primary goal is to assist clients in leaning more about the process of recovery, help develop an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle and to support children and families to bond and grow together in a healthy way.

Gateway Adult Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services
BACR's Gateway Services is an intensive outpatient treatment program for clients from Contra Costa County Drug Court. Group and individual counseling are provided, as well as drug testing and referral.

Criminal Justice Jail Treatment Program
Treatment services, assessments and AOD program recommendation and placements are provided for men and women in custody in the Marin County Jail. An out of custody program is offered for those on county parole and/or supervised probation.

Family Connections
BACR's Family Connections program provides multidimensional family therapy for substance-abusing adolescents who are on Juvenile Probation. Multidimensional family is an evidence-based model program that has been well-researched and shown to be very effective in working with this population.
The Family Connections staff includes 5 therapists who have been trained to deliver individual and family therapy to the youth and their parents/guardians. Two therapist assistants provide additional support by helping youth get involved in more prosocial activities as well as help families access needed services. Program staff also work closely with schools and the Probation Department.
Referrals are made through the Probation Department only.

Marin County DUI Program
The Marin County DUI Program (MCDUIP) offers court and DMV mandated programs. For First Offenders, it is a fifteen (15) week Education and Group counseling Program for the drinking driver. The Education curriculum (6 weeks) includes videos, lectures and group discussions with informational materials on DUI law, court requirements, substance abuse and problem drinking. The Group Counseling component of 9 weeks is conducted in a supportive atmosphere in which participants assess their relationship with alcohol.
The Six Month First Offender MCDUIP is an Education and Group counseling program for the driver ordered by court to attend an extended First Offender DUI Program. The Education curriculum (6 weeks) includes videos, lectures and group discussions with informational materials on DUI law, court requirements, substance abuse and problem drinking. The Group Counseling component of the program (16 weeks) is conducted in a supportive atmosphere in which participants assess their relationship with alcohol.
The Nine Month First Offender Marin County DUI Program is an Education and Group counseling program for the driver ordered by court to attend an extended First Offender DUI Program. The Education curriculum (6 weeks) includes videos, lectures and group discussions with informational materials on DUI law, court requirements, substance abuse and problem drinking. The Group Counseling component of the program (24 weeks) is conducted in a supportive atmosphere in which participants assess their relationship with alcohol.
For Multiple Offenders there is an eighteen- (18) month Education and Group Counseling program. The Education curriculum (6 weeks – 12 hours) includes videos, lectures and group discussions with informational materials on DUI law, court requirements, substance abuse and problem drinking. The Group Counseling component of the program combines 52 hours of weekly group process sessions with individual interviews every other week. Sessions are conducted in a confidential, supportive atmosphere in which participants are encouraged to identify and resolve alcohol-related problems and make positive lifestyle changes. Community Re-entry is the final 6-month phase of the program. It consists of once a month, 1 hour, group sessions, and is concurrent with 4 hours a month community re-entry activity.
Programs are conducted in English and Spanish.

The Group Counseling component of the program (24 weeks) is conducted in a supportive atmosphere in which participants assess their relationship with alcohol.

Phoenix Academy
Phoenix Academy is Marin County’s first Charter School, established by the Marin County Office of Education in 1995. The Marin County Office of Education operates the program, in partnership with Bay Area Community Resources. Phoenix Academy is designed to offer alternative educational services to students with, or at high risk for, chemical dependency problems. The program addresses academic achievement, appropriate behavior in the academic setting, commitment to recovery, continued sobriety, relapse intervention, family intervention and vocational education. Students are referred by school districts, parents, probation officers and by the students themselves.
The primary goal of Phoenix Academy is to provide a safe and sober atmosphere for students who have experienced problems with drugs and alcohol. The program provides intensive therapeutic services to help youngsters in recovery from chemical dependency. In addition, Phoenix Academy provides a challenging, comprehensive curriculum taught by qualified and experienced teachers.
